The "Super Flu" is Here and Floridians are Getting Hit Hard By It
Florida is in the top tier of "very high" flu activity per the latest CDC data. Dr. David Billmeier, Arrow's Medical Director, weighs in on who's at highest risk and why hospitalization rates are at a 14-year peak.
Last year's flu season was the worst in seven years, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports, and this year's surge could top that.
It's getting called a "super flu," and the latest surveillance data the CDC posted Jan. 5 shows Florida and 29 other states are now in the top tier of "very high" flu activity.
"The hospitalization rate for this season is higher than it's been since 2011. Young children and people over the age of 75 are at the highest risk."
